Softball Game Preview: El Capitan Gauchos vs. Golden Valley Cougars

El Capitan is 1-9 against Golden Valley since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. El Capitan will be playing at home against Golden Valley at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

El Capitan is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 24th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 10-3 to Buhach Colony.

El Capitan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amanda Tostado, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Tostado a new career-high. Cienna James Gibson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Merced, falling 8-2.

Savanna Benc spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Golden Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
