They fell to the Falcons 51-46. Somerset Academy South Homestead's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sakura Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Barnes is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Justice Sheppard, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Jade Leon continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palmer Trinity, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Leon has scored at least a third of Palmer Trinity's points. Emma Esparza was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Somerset Academy South Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Palmer Trinity, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Somerset Academy South Homestead's road trip will continue as they head out to face Westminster Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Somerset Academy South Homestead will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Westminster Academy is ranked 33rd). Palmer Trinity is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Palmer Trinity is ranked 100th, while Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is ranked 110th).
