St. Mary Cathedral is a perfect 3-0 against Ellsworth since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Snowbirds will be playing at home against the Lancers at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
St. Mary Cathedral's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Bellaire. The win continues a trend for the Snowbirds in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellsworth). They blew past Boyne Falls 16-1 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lancers with their most commanding win of the season.
Skyler Seeney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ellsworth is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise. Seeney was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Seeney is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Ellsworth got a massive performance out of Cameron Snyder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Snyder is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Max Muladore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Ellsworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Ellsworth's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for St. Mary Cathedral, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went St. Mary Cathedral's way against Ellsworth in their previous matchup back in June of 2016, as St. Mary Cathedral made off with an 18-0 victory. Will the Snowbirds repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
