Softball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Has No Trouble Against Non Varsity Opponent

The UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES made easy work of Non Varsity Opponent on Thursday and carried off a 16-1 win. Considering the EAGLES have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bethany Gonzales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, UME Preparatory Academy got a massive performance out of Emma Dennis, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2. Those five stolen bases gave Dennis a new career-high. Jelia Fleming was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

UME Preparatory Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6-2 record this season.

UME Preparatory Academy will challenge Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they have already played their next contest, a 16-15 victory against Mariner on the 27th.
