League recap: Arcadia slips out of Arizona top 25 rankings

II Section III league recap: 5/14/12

With a rough week, Arcadia dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Arcadia fell from No. 25 to No. 26 after going 0-1 over the past week. The Titans are ranked No. 662 in the nation, and have an overal record of 21-9.

The league's top two teams in the standings locked horns this week, as Sunnyslope took home a 9-2 victory over Saguaro on Thursday. Sunnyslope leads II Section III with an 8-0 record, and has an overall record of 27-4.

Saguaro's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 14 hits and 10 walks to lead the league in both categories. The Sabercats have given up a mere 240 hits on the year in addition to compiling 189 strikeouts. Alan Madsen is the leader in that category with 61 Ks on the season.

Saguaro's Madsen led the league in strikeouts this week with four. He's fifth in the league with 61 total strikeouts.

Chris Akmon was the player of the game on Thursday, with four RBIs in Sunnyslope's 9-2 victory over Saguaro
