Baseball Game Preview: El Monte Lions vs. Arroyo Knights

El Monte is 0-10 against Arroyo since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 3:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

El Monte is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 32nd straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against South El Monte, falling 11-2.

El Monte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaime Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Arroyo suffered their biggest loss since February 22nd on Monday. They lost 12-3 to Gabrielino. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Noah Fonseca was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Arroyo is 2-1 when Fonseca allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

El Monte's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Arroyo, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

El Monte might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Arroyo when the teams last played back in March. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
