Softball Game Preview: Hampshire Trojans vs. Mountain Ridge Miners

Hampshire is 0-4 against Mountain Ridge since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Miners at 4:00 p.m. Hampshire has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hampshire is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against East Hardy on Monday as they made off with a 43-30 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Bri Cosner made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Cosner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Call was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Kaitlyn Ferguson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge entered their tilt with Martinsburg on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 9-4.

Hampshire's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Mountain Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
