Soccer Game Preview: Lakeland Preparatory vs. Brighton

The Lakeland Preparatory Lions will take on the Brighton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Brighton will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Lakeland Preparatory extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Lions' defense stepped up to hand University a 9-0 shutout. Give Lakeland Preparatory's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting University from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Eli Coleman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Brighton made easy work of Haywood on Monday and carried off a 4-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Brighton.

Lakeland Preparatory pushed their record up to 12-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Brighton, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.

Lakeland Preparatory was able to grind out a solid victory over Brighton when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-2. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
