Baseball Recap: Burroughs Comes Up Short

Burroughs extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-10 in the process. They lost 11-4 to the Apple Valley Sun Devils. That's two games in a row now that the Burros have lost by exactly seven runs.

Kanon Schiller was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Burroughs is 5-2 when Schiller allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Schiller was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Apple Valley, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

On Apple Valley's side, they got a big performance out of Isaiah Reveron, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Reveron has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Caden Mather, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Burroughs had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
