            Softball Recap: Leon Lions vs. Jefferson County Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Leon  took care of business in their home opener  (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jefferson County Tigers  a   20-0 shutout.
 Kamryn Smith and  Taylor Winfield were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing,  Smith   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Winfield   tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. At the plate,  Smith  went 1-for-2 with three  RBI and one  stolen base, while  Winfield  scored two  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Lamonika Sims, who  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kierstyn Fuller, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.

 Leon was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .667. The last time their  batting average was this high was  back in February of 2024.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leon will square off against Taylor County at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Jefferson County,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as  the Tigers  duke it out with  the Jaguars at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
