Baseball Game Preview: Cibola Cougars vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Cibola hasn't had much luck against Rio Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out to face off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Cibola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Cibola is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Piedra Vista, who was ranked 11th at the time (Cibola was ranked seventh). The Cougars skirted past the Panthers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 11, 2024.

Cibola saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hutchinson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Rio Rancho entered their tilt with Volcano Vista on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cibola's record now sits at 13-5. As for Rio Rancho, their record is now 14-4.

Cibola couldn't quite get it done against Rio Rancho in their previous matchup two weeks ago as they fell 6-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
