Football Game Preview: Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles vs. Groton Red Hawks

The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles will challenge the Groton Red Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Spencer-Van Etten/Candor took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Newark Valley, posting a 48-19 victory. Considering the Eagles have won three games by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Groton). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greene 48-18. The Red Hawks haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Groton's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. As for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor against Groton in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, as the team secured a 50-12 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Red Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
