Softball Game Preview: Clovis East Timberwolves vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles

The Clovis East Timberwolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Clovis West Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Clovis East has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Clovis East will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Clovis North, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Timberwolves never let the Broncos get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Friday. Two seems to be a good number for the Timberwolves as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Clovis East got a great performance from Chloe Solis as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Solis has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eliana Massicci, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Clovis East hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clovis North struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Clovis West faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 6-4. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Clovis West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Johnston, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Clovis West's loss dropped their record down to 11-2-1. As for Clovis East, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-3-1.

Clovis East couldn't quite finish off Clovis West when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Timberwolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
