Softball Game Preview: Norte Vista Braves vs. Rubidoux Falcons

For the second straight game, Norte Vista will face off against Rubidoux. The Braves will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Norte Vista has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 27.

Norte Vista came up short against Rubidoux on Tuesday, falling 16-6.

For Rubidoux's part, Mary-Jane Ortega made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ortega was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Davina Sandoval was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Megan Pelaez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Rubidoux always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Norte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-14-1. As for Rubidoux, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.
