Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Prep Saints vs. Chaminade Eagles

The Xavier Prep Saints will take on the Chaminade Eagles in a tournament on Tuesday. Xavier Prep's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matches, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Xavier Prep's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Newbury Park hitters got past them. The Saints lost 10-0 to the Panthers on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Saints have suffered since March 2, 2024.

Meanwhile, Chaminade beat Shadow Hills 10-5 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Jackson Schroeder tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chaminade is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Chaminade got a big performance out of Eli Stephens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Stephens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Costa, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Xavier Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Chaminade, their record is now 8-12.
