Baseball Recap: Schroon Lake Takes a Loss

If Schroon Lake was feeling good fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Boquet Valley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Chazy Eagles on Wednesday, falling 27-5. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Schroon Lake saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Porcaro, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Porcaro is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another was Carson Witherell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Schroon Lake now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Chazy, their record is now 6-3.

Coming up, Schroon Lake is taking a road trip to challenge Lake Placid at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 12.6 runs per game this season. As for Chazy, they will take on Northern Adirondack at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
