Football Game Preview: Union County Patriots vs. Fulton Falcons

The Union County Patriots will challenge the Fulton Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Union County and ten for Fulton dating back to last season.

Union County is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Anderson County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Patriots took a blow against the Mavericks, falling 84-20. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 63-7.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaxson Hayes, who picked up 95 receiving yards and three scores. Bryton Beeler also helped out with an impressive 123 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Fulton challenged Gibbs on Friday. The Falcons had to suffer through a 51-7 loss at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Eagles are ranked 77th).

Union County will have to contain Jamil Smith as he made an impact in Fulton's last game. He rushed for 78 yards and one TD. Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fulton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
