Soccer Game Preview: North Brunswick vs. Laney

North Brunswick is 0-10 against Laney since February of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Scorpions will head out to square off against the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m.

North Brunswick managed to keep up with New Hanover until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Scorpions came up short against the Wildcats, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, North Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 315th, while New Hanover are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Laney kept a clean sheet against West Brunswick on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 5-0 victory. Considering Laney have won eight matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Laney and bumps their season record up to 14-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two matches. As for North Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1.

North Brunswick suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Laney in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
