Basketball Game Preview: Timpanogos Timberwolves vs. Uintah Utes

The Timpanogos Timberwolves will venture away from home to take on the Uintah Utes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Timpanogos is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Payson, who was ranked 18th at the time (Timpanogos was ranked 17th). Timpanogos took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Payson.

Timpanogos might have lost, but man, Gavin Messmer was a machine: he went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. The dominant performance gave Messmer a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Johnson, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Uintah ended up a good deal behind Provo on Friday and lost 84-66. The Utes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Uintah's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Timpanogos, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season.

Timpanogos strolled past Uintah in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 78-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Timpanogos since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
