Baseball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes a Loss

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-6 to the Southern Wayne Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 17-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Smithfield-Selma saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ Stridiron, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Stridiron a new career-high in RBI (two).

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Southern Wayne, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-7 record.
