Recap: Hilliard Red Flashes vs. Fort White Indians
The Hilliard Red Flashes lost against the Fort White Indians back in October of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hilliard was dealt a 49-14 loss at the hands of Fort White. While losing is never fun, Hilliard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Fort White is ranked 149th).
Leading Fort White to victory were Najeeb Smith and Jayden Jackson. Smith picked up 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Jackson threw for 236 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. That's the first time this season that Smith hauled in two or more receiving touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Fisher, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Hilliard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Fort White, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Hilliard's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Impact Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Fort White does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
