Baseball Recap: Bernalillo Spartans vs. Hope Christian Huskies
After flying high against Pojoaque Valley on Thursday, Bernalillo came back down to earth. Bernalillo fell just short of the Hope Christian Huskies by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Uriel Castro was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Castro was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other pitching news, Brandon Keyonnie was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Anthony Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
