Baseball Recap: Christian Academy Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Christian Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Eastern Musketeers 14-4. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jonah Whitehead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Danny McDonald was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Christian Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrien Bryson, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run.

Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Eastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 17-7 loss against Charlestown on the 23rd. As for Eastern, they will square off against Providence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Musketeers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
