Baseball Recap: Ayer Shirley Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maynard, Ayer Shirley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Mystic Valley Regional Eagles 6-5. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Troy Leighton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Alex Williams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Ayer Shirley's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Mystic Valley Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.

Ayer Shirley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Ipswich on the 28th. As for Mystic Valley Regional, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-10 loss against Northbridge on the 28th.
