Recap: Sandy Spring Friends Wildebeests vs. Springdale Prep Lions

On Thursday, Sandy Spring Friends was beaten by Springdale Prep 68-30. Sandy Spring Friends has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springdale Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddie Poole, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Poole has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Anya Neufeld was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Sandy Spring Friends bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Springdale Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.

Sandy Spring Friends will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Model Secondary School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Springdale Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. St. Mary's Ryken presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Springdale Prep in Maryland (St. Mary's Ryken is ranked 28th, while Springdale Prep is ranked 123rd).
