Football Game Preview: St. Ignatius Bulldogs vs. Seeley-Swan Blackhawks

The St. Ignatius Bulldogs will challenge the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Ignatius will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up eight points last Friday, then bounced right back against Troy on Saturday. The Bulldogs blew past the Trojans 68-28. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Seeley-Swan faced Darby in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Blackhawks blew past the Tigers 40-16. The 40-point effort marked the Blackhawks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Seeley-Swan had a senior duo take command as Quinlan McClure gained 178 total yards and a touchdown and Blake Irwin threw for 171 yards and three TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes. With that strong performance, McClure is now averaging an impressive 100.1 rushing yards per game.

Seeley-Swan's defense made their presence known, laying out McCoy Townsend five times. The heavy lifting was done by Derrick Brovold and Jay Garland, who racked up four sacks between them.

Seeley-Swan's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for St. Ignatius, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

St. Ignatius was dealt a bruising 34-6 loss at the hands of Seeley-Swan in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
