Basketball Recap: Southern Wayne Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Southern Wayne needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from Jayden Moore. The Southern Wayne Saints snuck past the Smithfield-Selma Spartans with a 54-50 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Moore, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high.

Southern Wayne's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Smithfield-Selma, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Southern Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-35 defeat against South Johnston on the 15th. Smithfield-Selma has also already played their next game, a 92-41 loss against C.B. Aycock on the 17th.
