Softball Game Preview: Vanlue Wildcats vs. Riverdale Falcons

The Vanlue Wildcats will take on the Riverdale Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanlue has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 3rd.

Vanlue managed to slip by McComb the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wildcats lost 20-9 to the Panthers on Monday.

Odessa Musgrave was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adrienne Phillips, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Riverdale can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against Pandora-Gilboa as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Riverdale now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Vanlue, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Vanlue beat Riverdale 8-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
