Basketball Recap: Hopatcong Takes a Loss

Hopatcong fought the good fight in their overtime game against Veritas Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Veritas Christian Academy by a score of 42-40. The loss continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with Veritas Christian Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.

Veritas Christian Academy was led to victory by Amya Cuddon and Madelyn Seifert. Cuddon posted 25 points and seven steals, while Seifert dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cuddon's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Hopatcong's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Veritas Christian Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopatcong will face off against Sussex County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against American Christian School at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
