Baseball Recap: Southington Wins High-Profile Game Against Windsor

Southington faced Windsor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Blue Knights blew past the Warriors 8-0. The Blue Knights haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Rocco Davino, who gave up just four hits to keep Windsor off the board. Davino has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mark Zigmont, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Marco Spataro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Southington's record is now 16-6. As for Windsor, they moved to 17-5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Southington will challenge Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Windsor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
