Recap: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Lowell Red Devils

The Andrean Fighting 59ers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lowell 84-53 at home. Given Andrean's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Lowell is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Paul Gilvydis, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Austin, who scored 12 points along with six assists.

Despite the loss, Lowell still got an impressive performance from Ezra Elenbaum, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Roan Vasko, who scored seven points.

Andrean's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Lowell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Andrean will head out on the road to take on Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrean has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Lowell is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Whiting at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Lowell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
