Football Game Preview: Newbury Park Panthers vs. Calabasas Coyotes + How To Watch

The Newbury Park Panthers will face off against the Calabasas Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Newbury Park beat Santa Barbara 31-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Newbury Park found their leader in sophomore Darrien Johnson, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD on only six carries. Johnson didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended one pass.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Newbury Park, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ryder Janton, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Calabasas lost to Thousand Oaks at home by a 49-34 margin on Friday. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Kayne Miller and Jordan Johnson. Johnson had a great game and rushed for 245 yards and four scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Miller was balling out in the loss, rushing for 110 yards and one touchdown.

Calabasas' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Newbury Park, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Newbury Park against Calabasas in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-20 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coyotes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
