Soccer Game Preview: Eldorado vs. La Cueva

The Eldorado Golden Eagles will head out to square off against the La Cueva Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Eldorado sitting on three straight wins and La Cueva on five.

Eldorado had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Manzano on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 5-0 shutout. Considering Eldorado's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

They hit Manzano with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emory Davis (2), Michel Pessetto, Carter Turcich, and Elliot Miller.

Meanwhile, La Cueva faced Sandia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Matadors, sneaking past 1-0. La Cueva's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matchups.

La Cueva's victory bumped their record up to 9-1-1. As for Eldorado, their win bumped their record up to 7-3-1.
