Recap: Fairfield Central Griffins vs. South Aiken Thoroughbreds
The Fairfield Central Griffins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over South Aiken. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Fairfield Central has posted yet this season.
Jordyn Adams was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with three steals. Adams is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jazzlyn McMillan, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, South Aiken still got an impressive performance from Kearstin Grant, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grant has scored all season.
Fairfield Central's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for South Aiken, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Gray Collegiate Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for South Aiken, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Airport at 6:00 p.m. Airport is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game.
