Recap: Tivy Antlers vs. Veterans Memorial Patriots
If The Tivy Antlers were feeling good off their 42-0 takedown of the Cedar Creek Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tivy fell just short of Veterans Memorial by a score of 21-19. Tivy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Veterans Memorial apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Several Antlers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aidan Varwig, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
James Peoples had a dynamite game for Veterans Memorial, rushing for 290 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Peoples was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Another player making a difference was Clinton Dixon, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Tivy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Veterans Memorial, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Tivy will face off against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will be playing at home against Cedar Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Creek is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
