Basketball Recap: Duarte Takes a Loss

Duarte played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares, falling 69-48. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 60-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Rio Hondo Prep can attribute much of their success to Nate Curtis, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Derek David was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Duarte's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.

Duarte will head out to square off against Azusa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Azusa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they will square off against Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
