Football Recap: Hoehne Triumphs Behind Punishing Ground Game

Hoehne's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 44-36 victory over the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds. The Farmers haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Brody Silvey had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 250 yards and six scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles and defending two passes. Hoehne also got a significant boost from Jake Magninat, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hoehne was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Sangre de Cristo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoehne will face off against Fowler at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Farmers' defense better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 34 points per game this season. As for Sangre de Cristo, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crowley County at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
