Softball Recap: Shoemaker Comes Up Short

Shoemaker suffered their closest loss since February 28th on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Harker Heights Knights by a score of 6-4. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Kale Clawson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nichole Clemente was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3.

Shoemaker's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 18-11-1. As for Harker Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Shoemaker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harker Heights, they will square off against Temple at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
