Softball Recap: Pembroke Pines Charter Takes Down Mater Academy Charter in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Pembroke Pines Charter rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mater Academy Charter Lions a 15-0 shutout. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.

Destiney Ortega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Ariana Bonilla was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
