Baseball Recap: Providence Day Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Providence Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Austin Ward, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Providence Day's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cullen Ward, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Providence Day's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-10. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Providence Day will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buccaneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
