Hiawatha and Jefferson West are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Hiawatha Red Hawks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Jefferson West Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Hiawatha will be strutting in after a win while Jefferson West will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Hiawatha didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson West challenged Holton last Friday. Jefferson West was dealt a 64-33 defeat at the hands of Holton. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Wildcats are ranked 100th).

Despite the loss, Jefferson West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Harriet Dean posted 12 points.

Hiawatha's win bumped their record up to 10-8-1. As for Jefferson West, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Hiawatha was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson West in their previous meeting back in January, winning 48-41. Will Hiawatha repeat their success, or does Jefferson West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
