Basketball Recap: East Laurens Falcons vs. Southwest Patriots
East Laurens lost against Southwest back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Laurens Falcons took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwest Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Patriots are ranked 50th).

Despite the loss, East Laurens still got an impressive performance from Tylan Snead, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 21 points. Snead's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Rashund Washington Jr., who went 5-for-9 on his way to 15 points and eight boards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Dupree, who went 7-for-11 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. What's more, Dupree also posted a 64% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. C.J. Howard was another key player, putting up 15 points and five assists.
East Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Southwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.
East Laurens has already played their next contest, a 60-55 victory against Bleckley County on the 15th. As for Southwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 79-76 win against Dublin on the 15th.
