Basketball Recap: Joshua Barnette and Daniel Wright Secure Win for J.F. Webb

J.F. Webb won the last time they faced Vance County and things went their way on Friday too. The J.F. Webb Warriors enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over the Vance County Vipers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Leading J.F. Webb to victory were Daniel Wright and Joshua Barnette. Wright dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten assists, while Barnette to rack up 22 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Barnette is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikelis Hobgood, who posted ten points.

J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Vance County's loss came despite strong showings from Kayden Roberts and Del'Quaveon Bullock. Roberts en route to 23 points and five boards, while Bullock on his way to 13 points and six steals. Roberts is becoming a predictor of Vance County's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 6-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Alston, who to rack up 12 points.

J.F. Webb's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Vance County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: J.F. Webb beat Vance County by a score of 59-41 on Monday.
