Volleyball Recap: Dan River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy last Thursday, Dan River came back down to earth. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Appomattox County Raiders on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss on October 7th.

Dan River may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored zero points in every single set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.

Appomattox County was led to victory by Tenley Gilliam and Paisley Mann. Gilliam had ten digs and three aces, while Mann had 14 digs and one assist. Mann is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

With the defeat, Dan River broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 12-9. As for Appomattox County, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-1.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Dan River and Radford will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Appomattox County, they will welcome Patrick County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
