Basketball Recap: Macomb Skates Past Farmington with Ease

Macomb had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They breezed by the Farmington Farmers to the tune of 60-14. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Farmers are ranked 545th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Farmington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lynsey Shriber posted nine points.

Macomb is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.1 points per game. As for Farmington, their defeat was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-19.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Macomb will welcome Brown County at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Farmington, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 7:15 p.m. Farmington is facing Cuba/Spoon River Valley at the right time seeing as Cuba/Spoon River Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
