Volleyball Game Preview: Gillespie Miners vs. Southwestern Piasa Birds

Gillespie hasn't had much luck against Southwestern recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Miners will be playing at home against the Piasa Birds at 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, Gillespie came up short against Carrollton and fell 2-0.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Southwestern entered their tilt with Litchfield on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Purple Panthers by a score of 2-0.

While Southwestern might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Litchfield scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20.

Gillespie better focus on containing Vivian Zurheide and Briann Anderson as the pair were huge in Southwestern's win. Zurheide had 13 kills and three aces, while Anderson had 11 kills. Those 11 kills gave Anderson a new career-high.

The victory got Southwestern back to even at 14-14-2. As for Gillespie, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-19.
