Basketball Game Preview: Greenway Demons vs. Paradise Honors Panthers

Greenway hasn't had much luck against Paradise Honors recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Greenway Demons will square off against the Paradise Honors Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

Last Friday, Greenway earned a 51-38 victory over Thunderbird.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paradise Honors). They blew past Goldwater, posting an 81-15 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 23 points or more this season.

Paradise Honors' win came from a few key players Greenway will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lizzy Guincho, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Morgan Van Dyke was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 17 points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Paradise Honors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Greenway is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Paradise Honors, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Greenway suffered a grim 58-34 defeat to Paradise Honors in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Greenway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
