Softball Recap: Waukesha South Blackshirts vs. Mukwonago Indians
Waukesha South extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They lost 16-5 to the Mukwonago Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 back in April.
Alicyn Kramer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Layla Amerling also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Mukwonago, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
On Mukwonago's side, Amelia Motl was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, Motl posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Mukwonago got a massive performance out of Taylor Hingiss, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Hingiss has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jordan Chatham, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waukesha South will square off against Living Word Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mukwonago, they will take on Arrowhead at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
