Baseball Recap: Floresville Victorious

Floresville never let their opponents score on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Somerset Bulldogs 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers/Jaguars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

The result came thanks to Jaden Moreno's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Floresville is 8-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Floresville's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Westbrook, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Floresville pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Somerset, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
