1A South Central - West recap October 1, 2013
Zillah scaled the state rankings by moving to 34 from 70 this week, the biggest jump in 1A South Central - West. The Leopards climbed the ranks as a result of besting Royal 45-14.
Zillah extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Knights, 45-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for Rock Winters' team.
La Salle's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Daniel Boutillier threw for 115 and 3 touchdowns and Austin Gasseling had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Matt Wellner chipped in 125 yards.
Wellner provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Lightning beat Highland. Wellner's favorite target this week was Gasseling, who caught 2 passes for 54 yards.
He was 5-13 with 1 interception.
Boutillier put up the best numbers in passing as La Salle bested the Scots.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cle Elum-Roslyn takes on Cody Lamb's team. The Warriors are in fifth place, while the Lightning are in third place.
Cle Elum-Roslyn was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in 1A South Central - West. Brian Avery's team defeated Goldendale 25-6 earlier in the week.
